Abstract

Wolfe reflects on his journey of teaching in various settings, teaching him what public education should and should not be. He compares his experiences at two public schools in the Bronx with very different approaches to public education.

Author Biography

John Wolfe is a member of the Graduate School faculty at Bank Street College. He is a special education advisor and instructor who taught in two New York City school districts, directed a small independent school, and worked in community daycare programs.
