Abstract

Describes how the author created a framework to empower her colleagues, promote adult development, and help build a school culture that mirrored the priorities she set in her classroom, so that adults were encouraged to inspire each other, to keep the cycle of learning going, and to build teacher leadership into a powerful model within the school.

Author Biography

Jennifer Groves is an educational consultant in Telluride, Colorado. A graduate of Bank Street College of Education, she taught in the primary grades for ten years. Currently she works to bring quality professional development to rural schools in Southwest Colorado. She has presented at National Staff Development Council and state and local conferences on implementing successful job-embedded professional learning. Her latest work involves articulating the connection between professional learning and school culture.
