Abstract
New York City is well known throughout the country and around the world as an epicenter of the Arts. Professionals from around the globe flock to New York to make careers in all types of Fine Arts and Arts Related Industries, but there is a disconnect for the local population. Few New York City public school graduates enter these professions. This paper explores vocational education from a historical perspective, reviews a number of Career and Technical education models, and makes the case for instituting programs that can act as bridges between New York City youth and Arts Related careers.
