Abstract
This paper looks at sewing in a Montessori-based Open Classroom of twenty to twenty-four young children ages three to six. It is an attempt to at least partially answer the question: "What makes a good classroom work?" or "What are the elements that underlie the complex interplay of child, teacher and prepared environment that enables children to grow in a particular learning place?"
