Abstract
This research describes what happened when a teacher implemented change directed toward a relevant math curriculum and effective pedagogy which address present day needs. The assessment of these needs includes an investigation of today's reform literature and the nature of mathematics, along with the history of education and cognitive theory of the 1900's.
