Abstract
In this thesis a second grade teacher at a school for children with language based learning disabilities (LLD’s), begin by describing my teaching experience using the OG based Fundations approach which I used in my classroom of six children. I then present my experiences with designing and implementing a 10-lesson unit on morphology/orthography based on Structured Word Inquiry (SWI), an inquiry based approach that is rooted in constructivist principles of meaning making. A comparison of these two approaches is presented along with an original analysis and critique.
