An introduction to a series of essays by educators who reflect on their choices to live and work in other parts of the world. They offer a provocative range of personal and professional explanations for seeking out the strange and unknown.

Author Biography

Linda Levine, an educational anthropologist and the former Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, is a member of the Graduate School faculty at Bank Street College. She has published articles on advancing equity and facilitating cross-cultural learning in teacher education. Linda is currently writing a book on Bank Street’s Urban Education Semester program.
