Abstract

Judith Lesch’s firsthand account of her teaching experiences from the late 1970s through the mid-1990s takes us on a journey through the evolving approaches to inclusion.

Author Biography

Judith Lesch was an early childhood classroom special education teacher in Westchester County for 17 years. She was an instructor/advisor in the Bank Street College of Education Graduate School until 2008, helping design the early childhood general and special education dual certification program and acting as its director for a number of years. In recent years she has been an educational consultant to the New York Center for Child Development, a preschool for children with disabilities. She received her doctorate in 1985 from Teachers College, Columbia University.
