Seamus O’Connor, a high school special education teacher, shares a story of bridging a divide. He takes a clear and honest look at the evolution of his relationship with his coteaching partner, Carol. In doing so, he explores themes of equity, trust, and negotiated differences in building a collaborative classroom.
Author Biography
Seamus O’Connor is a secondary school special education teacher. He worked at a public high school in Brooklyn, New York and has recently joined the staff of a high school in Alexandria, Virginia. He earned his MS in education at Long Island University–Brooklyn as member of the New York City Teaching Fellows. His professional focus is closing the racial achievement gap through school reform.
